Little Man

Dear Little man,

I thought I'd write another little blog about how you are doing now! (so that we can look back on it when your older!)

You are now 2 years, 7 months and 4 days old. (I have a ticker tape on Netmums, so can get the exact age, heehee!!)

I can't believe some of the things you talk about now! words like 'licious' (delicious) to describe food! Another favourite of mine is 'lollypot' (lollypop!) - though you only get them occasionally, when you've been a good boy!

You are experimenting with imaginary play - your favourite at the moment, is a 2 lego block 'cakey' that you 'made' and you present it with a chorus of 'happy birthday to you!'
you love dressing up too!
You still love reading your books with Grannie and Grandad in the mornings and singing lots of songs - you can now manage most of 'twinkle twinkle little star,' 'row row row your boat' and 'tommy thumb', some of 'frere jaque' and my favourite is your version of 'old mcDonald' as 'old McFarmer had a ...' - love it!

You still love sitting at the kitchen table playing games with Grandad - usually trains, drawing and lego (where you always make 'raffe' - giraffes!) and jigsaws.
You are completely obsessed with Disney's Cars 2 and we often have to watch it! You love playing with the Cars toys and cushions we got you for Christmas - your favourite characters are Mater, Lightning, Finn and Holly!

We go once a week to visit mummy's friends (and their kids) for lunch, taking it in turns as to who 'hosts'. We also go occasionally to Krazy Club soft play area, with friends of mummy's from work (and their kids). I wish that we did more sometimes, but when I work until midnight, I'm not very good at getting up in the mornings to take you places like 'little quavers' that we used to go to.

Most of the time you are completely adorable, with your cheeky grin and loveable nature! When you get tired though, (especially when you refuse to go 'sleepies' in the afternoons) you get very grumpy and throw the biggest tantrums ever! Usually yelling 'don't like...' or just plain 'NO!' But I love you all the same!

You love going to sleepovers at Nanny and Grandad's house, and sometimes you get to share the huge bed with cousin Sean as well - which you both loved! You playing games with Sean when you're both at Nanny and Grandads or over the farm!

Though I have to say, one of my favourite moments of the day, is popping into your bedroom, before I go to bed to say goodnight to you - watching you softly snoring in your bed, snuggled with Bunny and Ducky  - as you look sooo scrummy!

So there you have it, a little 'snap shot' of how you are at the moment! More will follow as you get older, I promise!

Have been really brave!

Me and little man went to visit a friend and her 'zoo' of pets on Wednesday - partly to have a good old chin-wag and catch up, as I haven't seen her in ages! Also to help me with some of my fears! Here are some piccies of how brave we were!

Listography

I was really gutted that I couldn't take part in last weeks listography on mugs (as all of our mugs are stored in boxes whilst we're living back with my parents)
So I was really glad to be able to have another go at joining in, with the topic this week being the top 5 things that make you happy.
If you want to read some more, or join in the fun,  pop over to Kate at Kate Takes 5.

Top 5 things that make you happy:

1) My gorgeous little man - but specifically his cute little 'butter wouldn't melt in my mouth' smile and the gorgeous hugs and kisses he gives now!

2) When my wonderful hubby gives me giant hugs!

3) Curling up in bed, under my thick duvet, reading a good book before I go to sleep each night. The only problem is sometimes, if the book is too good, that I end up reading into the wee hours of the morning! - good job hubby works nights ;)

4) Making cards and bags - that one day I will get around to selling (with some of the profits going to my 2 charities Mind and MS Society).

5) Chocolate buttons - I have a very bad obsession with them at the moment - they just seem to call to me from the fridge (as hate warm melted chocolate!) and I just can't resist!!

Right, I'm off now to have a look and see what makes other people happy! :)

We've had a busy day :)

We have had a baking day today :) Little man helped me to make brown bread rolls - he kneaded his own little 'blob' and helped me with some of the rolls:
helping mix the dough

kneading

kneading some more!

Little man's giant roll!

helping to shape the rolls

Little man's rolls :)

I also made lots of biscuits and we are going to decorate them with lots of icing and sprinkles tomorrow :)

Grannie made white bread and loads of cakes - so all in all a brilliant baking day!

12 Things

1) Done

11) Would you wear your pyjamas to the supermarket? no, though I can happily have pyjama days ;)
12) What would you say to your 16 year old self? It's ok not to know what the future holds - you can survive quite happily just letting things 'be' - and not having everything planned out!

This is my life, I can handle it

So, last time I blogged I pledged a load of great things, unfortunately, I have not managed to put a lot of them into action - ok, none of them have happened! The reason for this is as ever, (with me!) I have been bombarded with illness after illness! Currently I am almost over an ear infection with an evil chesty cough and head cold thrown in for good measure!
I have no understanding as to why it always seems to be and my little man (he has the evil cough too - off to doc tomorrow) that seem to get everything thrown at us all of the time? Or we manage to get over one illness, only to be whacked down with the next one!
I read a quote posted on a friends facebook page that said 'you were given this life because you were strong enough to live it' (unknown author) it really got me thinking!
I have also started my reading quest and have just finished 'Pilgrims Progress' by John Bunyan. It was extremely challenging, but I found it really spiritually uplifting.
Put these together, and I have come to accept that this is the life I am supposed to live, because I am the only one who can handle it!
So now, my constant ill health seems like one of the many small challenges I am going to face and deal with in this wonderful weird life that is mine, because I will overcome each and every one that is placed in my way.
I feel so much stronger and happier today. I have found my faith and am grateful for the life I live.
I now just want to make more of an effort to keep my pledges and become the best mum / wife / daughter / friend I can.

Help Harry help others - my new inspiration

The most brilliant thing has happened.I received in the post our bracelets ordered from 'Help Harry Help Others' for Cancer research UK.
Little man loves his 'special' (as he calls it) and has not stopped wearing it!

I am now feeling even more inspired to get my butt into gear!
Looking down at my bracelet reminded me how special and amazing Harry was and what he achieved whilst he was so so poorly. So I have decided that if he can do that, then what is stopping me?
Depression sucks, but it's not going to be in control anymore!
From this day on, I pledge that:
  • Happy Crafting is going to make money and help my 2 chosen charities (Mind and MS society)
  • I AM going to loose weight and feel better when I look in the mirror!
I decided today that my life long relationship with chocolate, was now going to have to end!
I have also been doing stomach crunches and other mini exercises every night before I go to sleep in the hope to loose my tummy (or at least flatten it a bit!) and I am going to keep this up!
I now have a skipping rope and I can't wait to get out in the fresh air and get started (in the back garden, where no one else can see me! Heehee!) It even has a calories counter :)
I am going to re-new my relationship with Wii fit plus and make it a weekly event, rather than something I do when I remember or really can't sleep!!

If I feel uncertain, lacking in motivation, or doubting my abilities, I am going to look to my beautiful bracelet and remember Harry - my new talisman for bettering myself and never giving up!

Fun in the Snow

Little man and I have been really poorly lately, hence the slack in my posts!
Yesterday we decided to make the most of the snow and made 'Mr Snowman' whilst hubby stood and captured the moment :)

Great fun was had by all!

Saturday 4 February 2012

Been busy crafting :)

Well, it's been a little while since I managed to get round to blogging - me and little man are poorly - he has tonsillitis and I have swollen glands (as no tonsils!) so we've been sleeping and resting lots this week!

Yesterday I managed to have a minor melt-down as saw how bad our finances are, again! So managed to get my behind to the stoffice and got making cards today :)
I now just have to work out how and where to sell them to make us some much needed money ;)

Valentines Day cards (sorry that piccies aren't great - might have to invest in a newer camera soon!)

country companions decoupage

inside country companions card

my first attempt at using glitter! Not sure about it though!

metal brad on black background heart

metal brad, again on black background

stamps coloured in bright pink

same stamps and colouring, different arrangement

Let me know what you think ;)
